State Education: Myths and Errors

The rationale for public intervention in education suggests that any private supplying alternative fails because of the market imperfections. In addition, the mainstream theory argues that education is susceptible to generate social benefits larger than the individual ones. Nowadays, the public education's arguments are more often proven to be mere myths.  Despite this, the errors persist both at the academic and political level. The main goal of this article is to emphasize the weakness of the state provided education arguments and to assert the viability of an educational system based on choice and competition.
